There's a lot of information which surfaces every year about Halloween safety issues both online and in traditional media. To help us sort it all out, Spookathon.com turned to Andrew Reisner, MD, Doctor of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Visiting Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Reisner is hesitant to label himself a safety expert. But, because he's a concerned parent and a very skilled researcher, he generously offered to review the medical and safety literature, chat with his colleagues, and then sit down with Spookathon.com to go over it all and point us in the right direction.
Many of the issues around Halloween safety are controversial. Even the best research can be interpreted various ways, and expert opinions sometimes vary. The quiz which follows is constructed by Spookathon.com. The opinions and interpretations of existing Halloween safety literature are those of Spookathon.com and NOT those of Dr. Reisner or the institutions with which he is affiliated. If you take exception to any part of the Halloween safety quiz or would like to voice any other point of view on any Halloween safety issue, please don't hesitate to contact Spookathon.com.
